Wichita, Kansas – The energy plant at Century II Performing Arts and Convention Center had a small fire early this morning. The fire caused catastrophic damage to a transformer, which provides heating and cooling to the round portion of the facility. As a result, the systems that power the HVAC system in this section of the building lost power. ASM Global, The City of Wichita, and Evergy are already working to restore this system and anticipate it will take a few days until a new transformer can be put in and wiring redone. At this time, no events have been cancelled. With the mild weather, Century II staff anticipate any impact to guest experience at the facility while events proceed to be minimal.
