Power and Cooling Restored to Century II Following Energy Plant Fire

Wichita, Kansas – Early Saturday morning, a fire at the energy plant at Century II Performing Arts and Convention Center caused catastrophic damage to a transformer which led to a loss of heating and cooling in the round portion of the facility. ASM Global, The City of Wichita, Southwestern Electric, and Evergy worked diligently to restore power and cooling, completing the repairs early Sunday morning. Despite the challenge, no events were cancelled due to the incident, and with mild weather conditions, there was minimal impact on guest experience. Gratitude is extended to all involved for their swift action and support.
